The best Chocolate

Post by rationtin440 » Fri May 17, 2013 12:02 pm

I'm looking for opinions here; of every ration from every country that has been reviewed on this website, what would be the best to "un-best" chocolate component? I'm asking this because I'm kind of a choco-holic and I see that there are many chocolate items in the rations of every country here. Thanks.

Best:

Don't have a picture, but my nominee for the worst would be the waxy chocolate/toffee disks we used to get in the MCIs.

I agree, the best has to be the Yorkie bar, second would be the toffee/chocolate bar the came in the older RCW's (Type II Candy... something like that). Holding down the bottom of the list would be the EPA and RCIR dark chocolate type bars.

I really *love* the milk chocolate but the advantage of dark chocolate is she doesn't melt in great (e.g. desert) heat .

Thanks for replies guys! I'd nearly forgotten about the waxy consistency of the MCI chocolate disks I guess because it never really bothered me. My best choice would be the older chocolate covered cookie bars from the brown pouch MREs and I really cannot think of any ration chocolate that I really hated. BTW housil, dark chocolate is my all time favorite and what's more, it is said to be actually better for the body than milk chocolate. It is interesting cavguy mentioning about the EPA dark chocolate bars being near the bottom of the list along with the French RCIR ones; although I've yet to taste either one, many people I've spoken to outside of forums who have eaten them seem to think that the EPA chocolate is one of the best things in the ration!

I must mention, I am not a dark chocolate fan though. I am 100% partial toward milk chocolate! I do appreciate the benefits of dark chocolate, but its just not much of a *treat* for me.

If it´s about the taste, I´d always prefer a milk chocolate. As you mentioned, dark chocolate is a little more "bitter", very solid (EPa one) but does not melt (and no need to go to the bath room for "a couple" of days... )

The US thought of that, then came out with "the Desert Bar", a combination of Chocolate, carob and.....Wax!

It looked like chocolate, but tasted like a crayon,,, :P

Not very good, not very popular.

Hey, kinda cool. I didn't know that.

I Personally prefere dark chocolate in general. Since I've limited experince with chocolate from other Nations rations I'd say
Best: the Dutch dark chocolate.
Worst: Mint (flavoured) chocolate from the UK rations in the '90's.

greetings, Nawt.

One thing I'm particularly curious about is the chocolate and vanilla dessert that was part of the review that norge posted on June 17th, 2007 on the Russian ration. I'm wondering if it was like a cake or a pudding of some kind? I cannot recall if you tried it or not norge, but if so what do you recall of it? Actually the m&ms looked waaaaay better, but just my opinion. :P
