New Danish ration pack

Hi guys, guess who's back? I've been travelling around and about working and whatnot for the past few months and haven't had much chance to get online but hopefully will be able to drop by a lot more now :)

Anyway, thought I'd reintroduce myself by showing you what I found over at Soldier Systems today - a new ration for the Danes.
Image
1 x Freezedried breakfast (Oatmeal with berries etc)
1 x Freezedried dinner (all sorts of stuff. Chili Con Carne, Pasta In Spicy Sauce etc. There is alot of different meals)
4 x ryebread
1 x Cocoa
2 x lemonade (lemon, raspberry etc)
1 x tuna
1 x liverpatê
2 x ketchup
3 x alcohol swabs
3 x sugar
1 x porridge (Apple, Strawberry etc)
1 x cheesespread
2 x jam
1 x crackers
2 x nutmix
3 x chewinggum (2 per pack)
3 x tea
3 x coffee
3 x salt
3 x pepper
2 x nutbars
2 x toothpick
1 x spoon (not pictured)
1 x toothbrush
Looks like they are basing it off the Drytech rations that currently supply Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish forces and Orifo stuff (who I believe are also a Scandinavian company). Having tasted both types before (thanks Norge! and Orifo supply some UK MCR parts) I am sure the new Danish rations will fit the bill ^_^ Kinda funky having a new toothbrush as well as a new spoon in there every day, and it looks like they are using the same dental chewing gum as is issued in MCRs as well.

I also think it is interesting that now every Nordic military uses Drytech rations - NO, SE, FI and now DK. DK isn't issuing the full Drytech 3-in-1 ration as I believe the others do, but that makes sense to me - Denmark being more Southerly in the Nordic region could well mean they more likely don't get the masses of snow to melt to rehydrate the freeze-dried stuff that you would up North for example, so it makes sense to keep the Orifo stuff which is wet-packed (at least their MCR stuff is). I'm not really sure how Denmark is during winter, I've only been there in summer?

I guess the only exception to the Nordic pattern is Iceland (no military), but then Drytech are still the closest thing to an ´Icelandic ration´ as they print in Islenska on their orange civilian tur-mat rations - which the girlfriend was very amused to find out when we were window-shopping in gsport.no :p

Cheers!
BM

What a great find and I´m happy the Danish comrades get a ration that will feed them much better than that poor "lunch box" they got before

I´m happy for them they get freezedried Drytech rations (as long as you get hot water) and ryebread now. :D

I specialy like the little sponge, is it a ration for the female personel? 8)
Strange enough the brand on the meat-balls tin : Beauvais, it's a town in Northen France, not specially renowed for its gastronomy but it sounds French at least
Thanks for sharing!

The previous Danish ration does not look good! I kinda wanted one to collect but since seeing it I'm not sure I do anymore - is it really just a can of meatballs and a few brew-kit sachets?

Poor Danes, can't be fun having to live off that for months at a time in Afghan, or trying to heat up a frozen can of hakk :( The new rations must be more of an improvement than I had thought!

is it a combat ration? The contents look very similar to what you can find in a French RIE training food pack.

Many thanks to Norge from me too! Looks that these guys at DryTech really make some good food. I hope in the future I'll make an blind test of DryTech vs. Travellunch with some of my bushcraft friends.

Good to know the Danes got some good chow.

Almost forgot I got an account here...

Have had the pleasure of eating a couple of these new rations last weekend and must say they are a major improvement!

FYI they come in 36 different menus. 12 freeze dried for summer, 12 wet pouch for summer and 12 freeze dried for winther - haven't tried the winther though.

The pictures above shows the freeze dried menu, but I suspect the contents to be "prototype-related" as the wet pouch ones we got issued contained different items and some more ascessories.

As for the wet pouch, the bag contains aprox. 400grams of food. Had the pleasure of Tuna Mexican Style, and even though I'm not into hot tuna, this was really good!

Will try to feed you with some pictures next time I get my hands on them ;-)
