Russian movies

Postby Asger » Thu Nov 10, 2016 2:03 pm

Thanks to youtube there are some movies to watch with subs.

This one is my favorite Russian movie (don't read wikipedia entry because of spoilers)

The film is based on the eponymous book by Emmanuil Kazakevich. In the summer of 1944 the Nazi Armies prepare a massive Tank Division named 'Viking" for the offensive on occupied Russian land. The Russian Army's special group of seven snipers named "Zvezda" is sent for a reconnaissance operation behind the enemy lines in the back of the Nazi Tank Division. Two previous Russian groups never came back. The seven Russians know that they are going to an almost certain Death for the sake of Victory.

Oh man! Russian films!!!! IF you are into Russian films, you should check out War and Peace. It was the most expensive film the Soviet Union ever made. One of the Battle Scenes had over 13,000 soldiers and about 1,500 horsemen. Many of actors who played soldiers in the movie were actual members of the Soviet Army. Another famous film from the Eastern Bloc is Battle of Neretva. It's a film about Yugoslav partisans fighting against Chetniks and German and Italian troops in WWII. Finally, my favorite of this list coming all the way from North Korea...Order No. 27. A kung fu korean war movie about North Korean commandos sneaking into south korea to attack an enemy base. It even features captured American weapons :D

Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

I saw this movie few years ago, historical film + fiction + a love story. I liked it for the idea, actors choice is good, every character is different. Was a bit too romantic for me though :D
