same concept as the phalanx anti-missile system (naval) and the vulcan canon... cool stuff unless you're on the receiving end of 4,000 rounds per second.

vulvcan is 20 mm canon.

I saw the Vulcan tested. Its designers designed it mainly as an anti-aircraft weapon.
