Hello guys, I got one rare thing I thought I will never get in my life.

Little intro video about the Army (in 1991. wars started, I'm keeping this topic in time before that without politics etc.)

Fist of all I want to show JNA M-69 Mess kit they used (click on thumbs for bigger images)
Image Image Image Image

Clear writings: "Don't hold on fire" on plastic cups and canteen.

Main eating cup, water canteen, and two cups

With this mess kit it also came 3 piece utensil set you put inside of mess kit pouch. The knife has a canteen opener. Markings on utensils say KORDUNROSTFREIJNA.

SDO means SUVI DNEVNI OBROK, that would be roughly translated to dry daily meal soldiers used to get in ex- Yugoslavia. It was 24h meal.

With packs like this you would often get melba toast (zwieback) or just normal bread. Researching through ex-YPA soldiers forums I couldn't get any decent information about menues they had. They mostly speak where did they get SDO and how they eat it, what they liker/disliked the most. So I found out Navy had different packs, slightly better then this infantry one, and submarine crews had their own version. Some of this different SDO's had fruit hardcakes, cigarettes, even rum drinks.

And last but not the least info I got they hade SDO's for horses, mostly for mountain warfare or borderguard units who sometimes had horses with them.
