Well, it's my first review, so go easy on me! :D

The product in question:

Available here in the UK from supermarkets, most seem to have their own version as far as I know.
The date says it is good until November 2010, and it can be storred at room temperature. It suggests that you remove the contents from the foil bag and fry it on the stove,
but I'm going to try boiling it in the bag:

It's quite a big bag, so you will need a fairly large pan to heat it in.

And Serve:

First impressions are good, it seems to have cooked and smells fine. It is rather oily, as it includes the oil needed to fry it, and there is hardly any bacon.
That said, the potato tastes fairly fresh, and is nice and firm. The overall taste is fine, although a little bland.

Nurtitional Info:
Half a pack provides -
221 Calories
9.2g Fat
1g Sugars
1.2g Saturated Fats
2.5g Salt

I've eaten most of the pack before the oil got the better of me.

Overall, I would recommend this as a side dish, possibly for more than one person. I would also recommend frying it, as although boil in the bag is possible,
it doesn't do much for the flavour!!!

Housil, get to the dried ready meals.. it's often located near the meat conserves / bockwurst. They also sell rice meals that you have to cook in 500ml of water. (The mexican one is alright, but full of colourants.. the others are to salt for rice)

They are packed in thin boxes about A5 size, and only about 2.5cm thick. The brand is "Gut Frielingshof" and they are called Bratkartoffeln (obvious..) with the variants "mit Schinken*" (also contains some onions) and "mit Zwiebeln**"

They tend to splash around some grease while cooking though. So use a cooking apron. The taste is "acceptable", because it's shelfstable. Fresh ones are 10 times better. Also there isn't alot of meat in it. (But that's just to keep it cheap offcourse)

* = with Ham
** = with Onions

Real, Rewe, etc have them aswell, but slightly more expensive. (€1,50 bis €2)
