1980 LRP - Beef With Rice - Full Review

Postby steve1989 » Mon Mar 24, 2014 11:22 am

I am back with another early 80's Cadillac Products - Food Packet, Long Range Patrol. Menu 4 Beef With Rice.

Everything was still perfectly fresh and in particular, the lemon corn flake bar... oh my goodness I loved it! I wish I had 30 more of those things.

I for some reason broke my own rule and added the recommended amount instead of 25% less on the water on the main entree. It was too moist - but I still ate it.

Last year, I had opened one of my Chicken & Rice Cadillac LRP's and forgot to take a picture of the DoP code on the Hot Cocoa - it was the only indicating date on the entire ration.
I opened my other Chicken & Rice to get that date code which I will show here as well.

Hope everyone enjoys the photos.

P.S. again I got jipped on the Interdental Stimulator, they're never in the accessory packet! :!:

Close up - Beef with Rice - 1980. These things will never spoil if they don't get a pinhole.

I should have left out the creamer. I didn't like the old brand on how it clouds up like this! I still drank it - never waste Coffee Instant Type 1. It's a rule. :)

Oh my gosh this thing is amazing. Mild sweet lemon crisp. Fresh as the day it was packed in 1980 I can imagine. What an experience!

See what they made me do?! I follow the instructions on water and it is wet as a swamp! Always add 25% less water. Dohh!

!

For some odd reason I can only find this photo in my archives of the cocoa's date code and darn it I can only see 24701 on it and I could have sworn when I took a close up that I cannot find now it said 024701 and I thought it was around September 1980 - but now I have no idea when this was made. I am embarrassed!

Chicken & Rice from the 80's has MSG unlike nowadays and that makes for one heck of a savory meal!

A classic for me. :)

Naturally - the Chocolare Fudge Bar is a Motor-Oil Hockey Puck and is even worse than the one I had last year! The rest is fresh and I ate it all excluding the fudge bar.

What for great pictures, thank you for sharing!!
My very first thought of that rice was: Yuck, maggots...

It seems that the creamer flocculated (right word?). I had this two or three times too.

Hi Steve,

again, really nice review and pic's. Especially the use of the tray makes it all look better and cooler.
I'm considering to purchase a tray just to have the reviews looking better :)

Thankyou for the support, guys!

The more feedback I get, the more inspired I get to post more of my obscure and rare rations!

I'll keep em' coming!

Here's a preview of what I'm eating tonight.

Have you got a chili and beans LRP?

I tried to eat one, back in 1972, it was like gravel...
