New Items found in 2015 MRE's

Postby Treesuit » Sun Oct 22, 2017 11:55 pm

Hey guys,

I've noticed a few new or unusual items in some of the batches of MRE parts that I am getting in. These three items have been from 2015 menus'.

1) Buffalo Style Hot Sauce
2) Chili Lime Hot Sauce
3) Applesauce Cake TFF

The applesauce cake was the only one with a Julian date on it but not the white generic hot sauce's.

I know there was talk some months ago about white generic items normally found in Cold Weather MRE's/LRP showing up in regular MRE's. I'll throw it out to the group if this is going to be standard or there was a shortage somewhere and most of the manufacture's just threw in whatever into the MRE lineup.

I've seen almost all of those,
and as far as I know the Buffalo Style Hot Sauce is strictly to spice up the normally bland chicken chunks MRE
Killed by rancid pound-cake. I know that will be on my tomb stone.

Hmm, Ok. I didn't know that. It does make a little bit sense.

Ya, it was added after they realized that just plain chicken chunks were kinda boring, and it replaced the normally flavorful teriyaki chicken.

There was a Beef Teriyaki MRE at one point but I believe the last year for it was 2004.

Btemple is correct on all counts. I know a great site for researching that info.

Yup, I just opened the chicken chunks tonight for dinner from late 2015 and can confirm.

Heating up the chunks in water (no FRH) helps quite a bit in my opinion. Buffalo sauce isn't too bad especially if you like a vinegary hot sauce and add the jalapeno cheese and you got yourself a party.
