What's your worst?

Postby JT1991 » Sat Sep 09, 2017 12:11 pm

Hello everyone,

Happy Saturday! What is the worst thing you have come across when opening up a ration? My worst so far was some classic cheese spread from 93'

Mmmm cheesy botulism.

Had a 1996 RCW Menu 5 A and B that was nearly perfect.... except for one package of oatmeal cookie and granola bars and the chocolate covered brownie. Gave me horrible cotton-mouth, as if I tried to eat a handful of cotton balls, and even made my tongue swell. Not a fun experience.
The other package of oatmeal cookie and granola bars in the pouch were perfect though, which was odd. Although I remember that the pack which had gone rancid was closest to the outside of the pouch, so it may have been susceptible to heat-stress.
In the immortal words of President Harrison Ford, Air Force One: Peace is not the absence of war... it is the presence of justice.

Brown Bag caramels. Thought I would die 3 seconds into chewing.
The first to bring you the MRE pizza stone.

U.S. MRE Beef Chunks with Gravy. Mid to late 1980's. They should have named the entree, 'Cow Fat Chunks w. Gravy'. The Turkey with gravy was only slightly better. Harder to find fat on turkey meat, I guess. Mre was nick-named 'Wild Turkey Surprise'.
After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!
