Brown bag MREs with freeze dried stuff

Postby Conrad » Sun Sep 03, 2017 7:19 pm

OK, being from Ireland and only a recent convert to really exploring rations, while having first hand experience and availability of the current mres I have little knowledge of the older ones. So...
Any of you knowledgeable US guys want to give me some education on which of the brown bag MREs have freeze dried stuff in them. The whole freeze dried thing interests me a lot

Freeze dried Pork and Beef patties went up til the late 80s, but the FD fruit blocks went to the early 90s....and are AWESOME! I seriously would like to buy a home freeze dryer just to remake those blocks.
Tried- Brit 24hr, FSR, MCW, IMP, EPA II, RCIR, Spanish IMP/lunch, Norwegian Arctic Ration, Brown Bag Corned Beef Hash MRE

Hey man, anyway you would be able to lay hands on a Irish Ration?
Killed by rancid pound-cake. I know that will be on my tomb stone.

It's VERY hard to get. They're not issued much or made in the huge amounts that the US or British ones are. I'm still waiting to see if my cousin's military buddy may be able to get me a couple of them

I really find the freeze dried stuff fascinating. It's amazing how it can still be perfect 30+ years later

Me too. That´s why I increase my numbers of freezedried ones while using my wet ones
MH did a great job making FD food and rations great!

Remember that litte "catsup" pouch they had? Add two spoons of water to get a "ketchup" so you could make a "burger" from that patty. Best ever!!

I still want to try Gundogs idea of tearing open the frozen FD Fruit block and adding a airline/mini bottle of alcohol to have a REAL "Fruit Cocktail.."
