Hello Olli,
Yes, I've known about the secret cache's of supplies left in various locations in Europe in case the Warsaw Pact overran Nato Forces..

In the 1980's I read a great article in the Deutsches Waffen Journal magazine while on a train going to Frankfurt. It showed photo's of a discovered weapons cache that was buried in the 1960's consisting of mostly WW2 US Small Arms and ammunition.. There were many such cache's hidden for "use someday" and then forgotten about over the years.

The stories "collectors" seem to hear being passed around are usually about hidden underground areas holding WW2 vehicles and German Armored vehicles.. Those are the stories that we all would like to dream are real (Finding such a place) :)

It's there. At the old Cooke Barracks, one of them, anyway. I've seen the openings. My BN. CDR. LTC. Ed Shirron even made mention of it, and told us it was Top-Secret, and off limits. There always was a superior U.S. Army MP force stationed at Gerp, when I was there, 1986-1987. They were armed with H und K submachine guns, and guarding some weird places on the kaserne, out in Spaeder Woods. Oh well, history.

Also, Ollie, I still have map of Cooke/flugplatz and surrounding area. 'Somewhere'. I can pin-point 2 openings to underground secret entry points. 2 were on the Kaserne, 2+ outside the fence, in Spaeder woods.
