4/87 Pack Date

Postby DanielQ » Thu Dec 02, 2010 5:46 pm

Hello everyone! I recently aquired 3 unopened cases of MRE's that were packed in 4/87. I was just curious as to how rare these were. I also got 1 and 1/2 opened cases of these. Any input is appreciated.

These are complete banded cases that were packed in April 1987. Are they worth anything as collector pieces, do you see them for sale regularly?

23 years old MREs?!

Not as "valuable" as a case of MCIs. A case of "C-rations" could/will bring you (over here) ~€150-180.
On ebay, it could happen nobody will buy them as nobody want´s to eat 23 years old rations.
You can give it a try, but don´t be disappointed.

Member norge (from Norway) would give one of his kidneys for them

I see them on eBay now and then from 87. Shipping can always be a deal killer with heavy stuff like cases of MREs but I'd say they should definitely sell if you tried. As a buyer always looking for a good deal I'm hesitant to suggest prices lest I talk myself out of a deal or come across as trying to get a better deal than I should. Are you a collector yourself or just looking to get info for a one time sale? There is a part of the board here:

http://www.mreinfo.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3

where you could put them up for sale directly to the 600+ forum users mostly interested in collecting and ask for offers via PM. It might be a bit slower than an auction or it might be a lot faster if you get an offer you can work with early on.

I am by no means trying to get rich with these cases. Mainly I was wanting to know there value. I would prefer to get rid of them in a trade where I could get some current issue MRE's but due to shipping costs it may be not worth it.

Hey Daniel, list them on Ebay and start em out at $25 a case with $20 shipping on each case or something like that. I'll bet they will go up to at least $38-44.
What is the oldest thing you've ever eaten?
