Re: Books, movies, articles

Sounds like a good movie Steph. And I'm guessing considerably more accurate than the last two WW2 related movies I've recently watched; "The Keep" and "The Philadelphia Experiment."

Re: MCW at Bastogne Nuts weekend 2019

Zimmerit was a paste that the German army applied to tanks during WW2 to prevent magnetic anti-tank mines from sticking to the tank. Photos of tanks from then usually show it as a plaster-like coating.

Re: Watch Caps

Awesome pic Dave! and let me guess, you bought that weapon at a Walmart in Massachusetts? lol  just kidding! I gotta rail on or laugh at gun laws when I can. actually it looks a bit like what I was issued in Desert Shield----only mine was manufactured in the 1970s and came thoroughly coated ins...

Re: MCW at Bastogne Nuts weekend 2019

Cool video housil! Just curious, did that panther tank have the zimmerit anti-magnetic mine paste application on the turret? It looks like it has it simulated.

My apologies Flange, I did not mean to imply that your post was in the wrong topic, but that mine was. I sometimes tend to wander with my posts.

Re: Thought this was pretty funny

That is too funny  I don't recall having issues with either the MCIs or the MREs when they were issued to us, 2 canteens are issued for a reason  except that food poisoning I got from the MRE turkey diced w/gravy. This should probably have been posted in off-topic, my apologies.

Re: camel cigs question

Apologies if this is off topic, but the reference to doctors smoking camels somehow made me think of a portion of NBC training I went thru in the 1980s regarding blood agent detection, where we were instructed "if your cigarette becomes tasteless or offensive, spit it out ( ) and don your mas...

Re: German WW2 rations

Actually I've yet to meet anyone who has simultaneously tried to do business with reprorations.com and had a good experience, although I have yet to order from them. As for how they can be sure they're making accurate replicas, your guess is as good as mine, and I'd be willing to bet they're not mad...

Re: German WW2 rations

Hello saab. If you're interested and not concerned with historic accuracy, you might try http://www.reprorations.com/ of course there's also the issue with authenticity, and I'm not sure how safe it would be to consume actualGerman WW2 rations  :P
