Re: please share DEALS on shelf stable food

Buying 10 might seem like an excessive number, but they do wear out and you'll probably give some away. Exactly! I've put one in each of my main emergency kits, and expect to give away the rest. :) Housil, good point about its use as a screwdriver! I'm now considering adding one to my cargo pocket ...

Re: review: Cliff Kid Z-bar

Adrian, that is an awesomely cute picture! :) I'm glad you both liked those. She will probably like the " Peppermint Stick " seasonal Clif bar - it's the sweetest of the seasonal bars that I sent you, and big enough that it's easy to share. The "Peanut Toffee Buzz" is also really good , but it has c...

Re: Drink mix sticks

Thanks for starting this great thread , Adrian! :) My very first exposure to individual powdered drink mix sticks was in the first batch of MREs I bought four years ago. I was delighted to find out that there's such a wide variety of civilian ones. They're not just for wee kids - I started carrying ...

Re: Stay Alert gum, Scho-ka-kola and other coffeine loaded "

Were you turned off by the "metallic" taste of the cinnamon? I've tried that cinnamon flavor before wasn't impressed by it. I also found that I had to chew more than two pieces to get any "Kick". I found that Power Bar makes energy gel "chews" that are really good and do a slow release of caffeine....

Re: Stay Alert gum, Scho-ka-kola and other coffeine loaded "

I've wanted to try " Stay Alert " gum for a while, but not pay a crazy unit price for it. A couple of other MreInfo Geeks and I have been discussing some trades, and they were also very interested in some, so for $28 (shipped!) I ordered a box of 24 packs from Amazon for us to split. Here's what it ...

Re: Lifeboat rations: Mainstay, Millennium, Datrex

Great review and summary, thanks for the effort! Your one comment made me wonder, How crumbly are these, would it be possible to crumble one in to say and mre entree to boost its nutrition, or even to use as a breading for cooking? Good question and it reminds me that I meant to experiment with tha...

Re: review: Adventure Medical Kits "Sol Scout" mini survival

Are the NAR bandages well worth the money and do they have any in different sizes? Also out of the three you show, which one is the reasonably priced and ships to basic consumers; like you and I? Great questions, Treesuit! :) Exactly the sort of thing I wanted to know when I started my FAK overhaul...

Lifeboat rations: Mainstay, Millennium, Datrex

I've mentioned both Datrex and "Millennium Energy Bars" a few times recently, so here's a quick overview, and comparison against Mainstays. :) Kman and CaptBob posted some very helpful comments in a thread about two years ago: http://www.mreinfo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2459&p=27936 Overview:...

Re: what are you watching on DVD/etc, and does it have ratio

Love the 'Firefly' series, but Ron Paul is a bit too....Shall we say... 'Wacko'... for me? LOL! Um, yes, that's the perfect word for him. ;) But compared to the two official party candidates, he's... almost sane . :) I'm neither a libertarian nor a Ron Paul zealot, I just appreciate his honest nutt...

what are you watching on DVD/etc, and does it have rations?

It's now summer, TV-wise, which means a lot more garbage than usual (at least, here in the USA - what's it like in Europe/Asia?). This is the time of year I ask friends for DVD recommendations. So, I'm askin'. :) For fun, please mention if it contains any "ration content"! :) I'll get us started... ...
