Yeah I browsed some studies on food relief on the net that recommended that the BP-5 ration packaging be redesigned so that it did not easily fit in the cargo pockets of military style trousers. Another recommendation was to make it less space age looking so that it would be less attractive to rebel...

Space food flown or not must be really hard for collectors to come by. I remember playing astronaut as a kid and my Mom ma...

Ok I got my ration to try. It has about the same texture of the Datrex ration with a VERY mild shortbread taste. Its nearly flavorless. Doesn't make you thirsty. Each square is satisfying and 2 squares is filling for about 2 hours. I ate the entire ration for 1 day and felt pretty good. The only thi...

How many MRE's are made each year?

Anyone have any statistics on how many mre's are made by the big 3 (Sopako, Ameriqual, Wornick)? I was reading The Federal Response to Hurricane Katrina: Lessons Learned, Chapter Three: Hurricane Katrina - Pre-Landfall. http://www.whitehouse.gov/reports/katrina-lessons-learned/chapter3.html The pic ...

I got some Seven oceans rations on order to try. Compact also make the BP-5 disaster relief ration. I emailed Compact to find out who sells it in the US and this was their response: "I am afraid that it will not be possible to import the BP-5 as it is not FDA approved. Doctors without Boarders impor...

Wow. Where did mreheater72 find a case of these? I really like this ration. Considering that it has a similar shelf life & resistance to heat to Mainstay Bars, the GP-1 has a variety of flavors. I think this is psychologically important. The wintergreen tablet in the GP-1 Improved is a bar shaped li...

I like the Colonial Marine style font on design #3. I never liked the "Warfighter" nickname. Just plain "soldier" is good enough.
