You are right, they are called pretzel sticks, but ours are approx. 15cm (half a foot or 6 inch) long, but very "slim" ...

I recall hearing something about a joke they play on new recruits...they have a contest to see who can eat a whole pack of MRE crackers in 30 seconds or less. The "12" tell´s you the country of origin.
US is "00" and "01"
Canada is "21"

norge, Those are some great photos. That is a serious ration. It sure has a lot of stuff in it. I can't read most of it, though.
