Re: Wanted: Vegetarian MREs

I have a ton, mostly 2010 DoP I believe, I would prefer to trade for non-veg MREs.

Also have a sealed case from 1997.

Re: MRE item secrets

We used to put the tobasco in the FRH bag and make pepper gas bombs. Though when it "explodes", the resulting mess coats everything and means that touching those things will burn for months after that. Ask me how I know!!

Re: anybody knows this MRE

Yep, that's them! A few years back on Ebay there were a bunch of cases of these that got sold off. Travelowl, have you tried any of the MRE's in that case to see if they are still edible? Sorry for the late reply, I do check in here often but missed this earlier. I have not opened the case, frankly...

Re: anybody knows this MRE

I've got a case made by Ameriqual, DOP 7235 (1997):

The only place it is labeled is on the side as shown.

Re: Got sniped at last second

If you're in the area, the "Church Clutter Barn" in Underhill (VT) tends to have a ton of the loose meals donated; unfortunately I haven't been up there yet this year so I don't know what they have. My wife found out that the Clutter Barn will be open this Saturday. I remembered that I had made thi...

APacks for disaster relief- photo

As I think I mentioned somewhere here, the one time I have seen the APack meals was during the very incident being shown in this photo. the recovery of Hurricane Irene. You can even read the date codes! Appear to be 2009, menu B?? I recall HEMTTs at the airport were filling up the trucks with pallet...

Re: Got sniped at last second

Damn, I'm in the wrong line of work if people value those little accessory items so much!! For cold weather meals, I personally find them tasty and handy year-round...$25 plus shipping for that sounds about right. When AMWS blows out supplies at the end of each winter session, it seems the cold weat...

Re: First Strike Rations

Wow, that's quite interesting! I never knew the feds were supplied with MREs and FSRs. Ha, well glad to share that. At least my office and one other major office I was assigned to. Not sure how widespread the practice is. Ours (now First Strike) sit in a locked supply room and seem to rarely get ac...

Re: First Strike Rations

Thanks for the replies. Truth be told, the person selling the First Strikes is, I am fairly certain, cadre at the Army Mountain Warfare School, based on my conversations with him. That is probably where he gets them. He won't entirely admit to anything, just tells me to "keep checking back for more ...

Re: First Strike Rations

Holy smokes, those prices are insane! What particular details could possibly make First Strikes worth so much? What should I look for? We have tons of them at work, in fact they have entirely replaced MREs following a lengthy mission we had last year where we depleted all of our MREs. I can't obtain...
