Yeah, P-38 can openers were issued with k-Rations, C-rations and MCI's, but when they went to retort pouches with the MRE's they were binned. Howdy Jen, Don't be afraid to toss some seasoning and spices on that stuff. Any flavor or enjoyment you can get out of a ration is pure magic. Cheers theres a reason hot sauce is included as a ration ingredient...and if you look thru most soldiers gear, you will find a lot of extra bottles included...

add salt to the water you put in the FRH, that normally kickstarts them. If it still won't heat up, then you can always drop in boiling water for about 7-8 minutes, leave on a car dash in the sun til it warms up, or put in front of a heater until it warms thru.
