Re: How often do they mess up?

What was the date of production? If they're not stored properly, they can go bad surprisingly fast. If stored properly, they can be stored for decades without ill effect.

Re: East German NVA bunker open house

I really like the cold war stuff, maybe one of these days when I manage to make it across the pond, I'll get to see some of it. We just completed some training up at one of the former SAGE radar sites in Central Oregon. Only part of an original building remains, the rest is just foundations and rubb...

Don't think I would try and use the FRH on a flight, though--people will probably think you're trying to set off a bomb or something.

Re: Best BlackDogBob Sale Ever!!! Grab Bag!

Got a Canadian IMP (love those!), plus two other items that I'm not familiar with. A Sopacko MORE, that looks something like a First Strike Ration, and a three-course ration that appears to be made in Russia; the only thing I was able to decode was an email address ending in .ru http://www.hsiprodsv...

Re: Reliable Ebayer in Poland

Yep, I got one but didn't eat it right away--opened it a couple of months later and was greeted with the smell of death :(

Didn't even bother cleaning anything, the smell was so strong that it went straight into the trash.

Re: Menu number 24, meat loaf and gravy. Questions.

If you had an outer bag with a "graphic" design like the ones in the header at the top of the forum page, it would have been 2011. If it was tan, and had the classic soldier logo and mostly plain text, you have a 2001 Meatloaf. Only using a single digit for the year with the Julian date co...

Re: Best U.S MRE menu?

I haven't had some of the more recent menus (most of the ones I've eaten are 2012 and earlier) but I quite like the Southwest Beef and Black Beans. Other classic standbys include the Beef Stew, Chili with Beans, BBQ Pork Rib, Chili Mac, and Cheese Tortellini in Tomato Sauce.
