Re: 1988 Menu 7 - Beef Stew
It seems such a shame that they had nailed the product as well as they did the nutcake. As I remember had a pretty high nutritional value in addition to really good taste. 1988, and still edible, is a pretty good indication of shelf life. It would seem at something that good, and done so well, would...

How hard/firm is "fresh" Scho-Ka-Kola ?
The tin I have is perfectly edible, and not badly whitened, but it's very very hard

Re: Home cooking
Housil's turkey dish looks great.
I just got through plating up and chowing down some Lamb Saag that I ran up this afternoon. [spicy Indian curry type thing- lamb chunks stewed up with spinach and potatoes]

Re: Menu 9 Chicken Ala King date?
I am not giggly wild about any of the MRE meals when eaten cold. Even the best of them drop to the level of subsistence chow.
The worst of them go someplace south of library paste.
However, it certainly nice to know that even meals that old would still be edible.

Re: Updates to MRE packaging
It is probably important to note here from a real-world perspective... products that expire sooner have to be replaced sooner. Money will be made.

Re: Steve's International Ration Thread
My adventurous taste buds always draw me back to this thread, and any other about Asian rations... I'm old enough, and my stomach is been through enough, that none of these make me terribly leery. Fear not. What do you have to lose other than your life. And face it… whole military commands eat this ...

Curry is always a great perk-up for turkey.

Re: "Micro" Take-alongs...
Very good post for me. The toothpaste in the tiny container is a great idea. The big tube takes up space and you only need a little on the trail "Down at the Dollar Store"... Seems like that's how I start every post. Anyway, I did find some micro toothbrushes. One or two use, 4 inches long, rubberi...

Re: "Micro" Take-alongs...
It was interesting to notice that the "minimus" site had the Bridgeford "MRE" sandwiches in the breakfast selections.
I only browse for a couple of minutes, but it's definitely a link worth having.
Thx
