Re: long shelf life bread

Bread? You want bread ? When I was still buying rations and stuff, I picked up two "loaves" of shelf-stable bread. There is no date or date/code anywhere so I have no idea as to how old this bread might be; however, shelf-stable bread is a fairly recent innovation. Each loaf was actually twelve indi...

Re: Food Packet Survival-General Purpose rations...RARE!

I have a couple of these silver-aluminum ration cans. They have a pull-tab to open it up. I also have two earlier versions of this that come in a gold-colored, but similarly sized can. They have the old "spam-key" where you insert the metal tab into the end of the key and wind the thing around the l...

Re: Hooah Bars

I bought a bunch (about 45-50) of Hooah! bars that seemed to be a test run, or at least they were a pre-production run. They are all Peanut Butter flavor and have the same labeling as the one pictured above, but there is no date stamp.... oh, and the label is a color laser-copier paper label on the ...

Re: stange MRE found on ebay

I contacted someone at Ameriqual quite a while back and asked him why they had that repeating pattern. He said that their bags and made and printed in long tube form and since the tube is continuous, they needed to print it like that so they could cut the bag anywhere and then create the top and bot...

Re: Eversafe meals redux.

I just took a look at that promotional case of Eversafe sent to me in Dec 2005 and it really IS a "thrown-together" assemblage: 1. All components inside are identical to military ones, except for the civilian accessory pack and the flimsier, white spoon, and "picnic napkin" 2. There is no ordered me...

Re: Oldest MRE or oldest other food you have eaten

The oldest MRE I've eaten was probably a Meatballs and BBQ sauce from around 1987... I forgot exactly what year it was produced. Still really good... although my favorite of the old entrees was the Pork with rice in BBQ sauce... YUM! I just had an LRP yesterday that was produced either in the late 1...

Re: ? FOR THE PROS : WHATS YOUR FAVORITE BRAND

Hey, if Wornick is out of the civilian MRE business, then my early Eversafe meals (random MRE components thrown into the clear Eversafe bag) should end up as nice collector's items, eh?

Sure! Just like those two, old "Mil-Spec" meals I have on the shelf!

Re: Help identify this ration!

Thanks for all the replies. So, it looks like either the late 70s or early 80s. Those Japanese web pages have nice photos... but, oh man!... trying to read the text translation is tough. My LRP had the two circular, foil-wrapped chocolates inside, as opposed to the other type candy. (Don't try eatin...
