Today's Lunch - The Brit's "Beef Burger w/beans"

I had a partially used 24-hr ration, menu F, dated "12/03" .... so I had a hankering for that "Beef Burger with beans in tomato sauce". There's not much left from that ration--some hard candies, the tin of pate, most of the tea, creamer, etc... and the packet of tissues. So, I opened the pouch and d...

Re: country captain chicken review pack date 4161

I agree! I liked the CCC. I think it had gotten its bad rap for a number of reasons: 1. The aliterative name begs for ridicule and the "triple-C" abbreviation 2. The fact that it is completely unfamiliar to those not from Savannah, GA or that region 3. Almonds! Or "fish bones" as someone once called...

Re: A case of 1988 MREs...yum!

Packed seventeen years ago, put into storage somewhere, moved to the California Wing Civil Air Patrol headquarters storage facility, and then -- when they wanted to get rid of all their junk -- finally sold to yours truly about nine years ago for (I think) $12 a case . . . I put a few individual me...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

The only time I bought a quantity of the same entree..... it was this one. I figured one day I'd invite a bunch of friends over for Thanksgiving "leftovers" and serve them these.... I still have, like, over a dozen or more.

Re: Hooah Bars

Well.... here's what I have: Front hooah-1.jpg Back (and the labels are simple color-laser-printed labels glued to the sealed package, not the finished product, it would seem.) hooah-2.jpg Here's the actual bar. hooah-3.jpg It's dense, chewy, and has a nice bit of crunch supplied by the crisped rice...

Re: Help identify this LRP ration!

My guess is that the chocolate was just a standard variety chocolate, not specially formulated to keep for an extended period of time. On the other hand, dehydrated food does extremely well over time.

Good thing I have full cases of MCWs and RCWs and several other LRPs.

Re: Need information about US Army T-Ration

One of these days I'm going to have to get seventeen of my bravest friends over for breakfast and I'll open up my "Omlet with Bacon and Cheese" tray dated 2044 (Feb 13, 2002).

And they can wash it down with all those MRE coffee packets I've collected!
