Re: What's YOUR current favorite MRE entree?

I love those old (dark brown bag) BBQ Pork with rice and the Meatballs (marbles) in tomato sauce entrees.

Also, it's no wonder that Beef Stew has been on the MRE menu ever since creation. Excellent choice.

Re: my mre/us ration display ready

Thanks for the info on that "white label" LRP. I still wonder why the MCW from 2004 is labeled "Food Packet, Cold Weather" . . . I can just hear the foreman saying, "Alright, it's just like the 'Food Packet Long Range Patrol' but put 'Cold Weather' on it instead!" Nah, probably didn't happen quite l...

All of these came via eBay, I believe.

Re: my mre/us ration display ready

Unopened case of 1996 "B Menu" menus 5-16, from the end of the year. This was the first year of the new tan bag. 1996-Bmenu-side.jpg Dark brown, LRP with odd white label attached. No other markings on the bag. Can anyone date this for me? LRP-white-label.jpg And, the oddly-marked MCW...well, call it...

Re: my mre/us ration display ready

Wow...what a great collection. A veritable "MRE Museum". I have a much smaller collection, but I remember a dark brown bag with a white paper label on it. I'll have to dig it out. Also, I have an entire unopened case of the first tan-bag MREs and another entire case of MCWs whose bags were not print...

Re: Emergency Food Bars reviewed in Popular Mechanics

As an emergency manager, I recently sampled each of these bars so I could plan for disaster supplies for a new school we're opening this fall. For taste, I like Mainstay. It has a lemon flavor and its sweetness is what you'd expect in a "cookie-bar" type of food. By comparison, most others are a bit...

Re: Good Buying Experience

Hey, MREGal.... I noticed that we're almost neighbors. I'm in Granada Hills. Have you been to SOS Survival Products in Van Nuys? If you need a case of MREs and are in the Valley, you can drop by and pick them up. They only carry the Sure-Pack (Sopacko civilian) brand, but they also have a TON of oth...

Re: A case of 1988 MREs...yum!

It's almost five years later and I STILL haven't found the original case that got me started. (I hope my wife hasn't thrown it out! She'd never admit to it.)

When I do find it, I'm going to do a review of something I find in there.

Re: Today's Lunch - The Brit's "Beef Burger w/beans"

Although I never called the dish "bland" you could dress it up a bit with whatever you prefer: pepper, hot sauce, etc. Frankly, I added nothing to it and it was just fine. Of course, I haven't been subsisting on this diet for days on end.... that might change things a bit.

Re: Today's Lunch - The Brit's "Beef Burger w/beans"

Very light... you wouldn't think "TOMATO" when you taste it... but a very light, mild tomato base along with the other seasonings.
