Re: Coffee! Ratings/reviews from a coffee junkie

Instant coffee has made amazing progress in the last 3-4 decades. The 'instant' in C-rats was disgusting, but it was a hot drink, and having something instant was a novelty. When Tasters Choice came along, it was the best powdered coffee ever made! Since then, the quality of all coffees is so much b...

Re: Korean seafood, rice w/ vegetables freeze dried

I spent a week in Barcelona, Spain in...1974, I think. The food was very bland, but they had just started displaying the white Gorilla, so not a total loss. We did a few tours, a drunken wine tasting tour and one to a mountain top monastery, complete with a very scary cable car ride! Plus the Dali-e...

Yes, Jalapenos are chili peppers, and are at the bottom of the heat scale. Remove the seeds and membrane(white stuff) before using! That's where the heat is . You have to start slow eating peppers, and work your way up. I like some heat, but as I age, my stomach is starting to argue with me......

Bell peppers have no heat. I was referring to the hotter varieties.IE: Jalapenos and hotter. https://www.google.com/search?q=scoville+scale&biw=1280&bih=873&tbm=isch&imgil=nA5_gGsxpnQvyM%253A%253BbeviWeGRFHF7UM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Ffrankspickledpeppers.com%25252Fscoville-scal...

Re: Korean seafood, rice w/ vegetables freeze dried

WRONG! Koreans love HOT food! And I love Korean food! I keep a jar of kimchi in the fridge all the time, and make my own batches several times a year. My limited exposure to European food tells me that most cooking is rather bland, and peppers are relatively new there. I grew up in California, lots ...

Norge works in construction, and travels a bit, so he may be out of touch occasionally.

Re: Feedback - Buy/Sell/Trade

Yes, I'll agree that Norge (Ken-Tor) is a fine fellow, and I've done several trades with him.
And just so you know, package tracking is a joke, it'll get there when it gets there, not when they say it will.

Re: Food Packet, Survival, Abandon Ship

I tried a Lucky Strike that had been packed into a rubber life raft in 1943. This was in 1969. Visualize the lit fuse from an old movie, fast burning, hissing and smoking. Like smoking old rope, I guess. 26 years in the tropics did not make for a good smoke! We had to peel the wrapper off the brick ...
