Re: French midnight snack

What a nice variety of snacks. :)

The apricot jam and commando fruity bar really are giving me a sweet tooth at the moment. The menthol tea is fantastic - i find it especially refreshing on a cold night out camping as a relaxing close to nap time & by the fire kindof drink.

Re: Meal, Quick Serve 6 Man

Thanks BTemple and Cavguy! This is one heck of an exciting find. Pretty sure it will be in good shape too... fingers crossed. Treesuit, the 6 man version was used from 1961-66 from what i read on QMfound. Will provide a copy/paste of what i read. Well it says scheduled for completion 1966. The one i...

1981 Canadian LWP (Lightweight Patrol) Ration

I had never seen one of these before - so when coming across this one it was an exciting find indeed. Weighs only 8 ounces and I would guess contains about 900 calories max. Was it a restricted calorie 24hr ration like the US LRP's original scope of design? Or was it a single meal? Hopefully the lat...

Re: 1993 Frankfurters, Beef MRE

Another bold and entertaining review Sentient! What a great presentation. And the Mars bar looks perfectly preserved. Love the old MRE story. Stuff like that.. if you only had pictures of your 4 year old self in that scenario. :) The franks look darker than usual.. they're always so odd. Last one i ...

Re: Jungle and Mountain Ration

Will find a Jungle and Mountain Ration specimen someday and get it catalogued for everyone to watch thru free media. Might cost a lot - my guess is they will be at some estate sale.

Re: Information about MRE pizza

So I'm reading this post and suddenly I'm getting very hungry and having a hankering for some Ellio's frozen pizza! I'm guessing that that is the closest proximity to what MRE pizza is going to taste like. Steve, I know you've had the Norwegian one, correct? Would you say it's similar to Ellio's? I...

Re: First Ration Mistakes

Ooh salty coffee! I did that once a couple years ago in the dark on a camping trip. What an experience! The first MREs i got in 1997 (they were 93s) i didn't know how to do the FRH. Filled it to the brim with water. So Ham Slices and Tuna w Noodle, my first MREs were eaten cold. The other 10 i put o...

Re: Found Three Cases of Brown Bag MREs

Hey Sentient, what a fantastic find! It makes me happy to know you got such an amazing deal on so many vintage goodies. It should have you set on FD fruit and cookie bars for some time. :D
