Re: Current U.S. Cold Weather Ration?

http://www.beprepared.com has some of the entrees on clearance. Just do a search on their site for LRP. We're looking into making a civilian version of the RCW/LRP. The only difference between the two rations seems to be the accessory kit. Basically, one provides hot cocoa mix and the other provides...

Re: MREs becoming obsolete?

DARPA is developing a super trooper suit to give soldiers more strength and endurance in the field. It's no small leap (pardon the pun) to imagine a built-in method of providing nutrition in liquid form. Think of the mush they fed RoboCop.

Re: major surplus mre's

Don't know if you ever got a reply on this one. I've seen those same rations at cheaperthandirt.com. I believe they're packaged by VooDoo Tactical. Not bad overall, though a little pricey. They all come with the same rye crackers which are pretty good if you soak 'em in the entree (and you'll have t...

Because i keep eying this last onely carton and I just want to open it and eat it and satisfy that urge...but I'm saving it for doomsday. There's gotta be a re...

Re: Petition for Sopacko to create a Civilian FSR?

Bumble Bee (Sweet Sue) is coming out with several products in pouches in addition to tuna -- like ham chunks and turkey breast. They're hard to find in grocery stores, but they're out there. We've already got lots of ideas for future versions of Bug-Out Grub. We're working on some shopping cart soft...

Re: Petition for Sopacko to create a Civilian FSR?

Very interesting and reasonable price point... Do you have all of the menu listings available? Would be nice to take a peak. FYI, we've already replaced the Ablacore tuna and mayo with a tuna salad pouch. The pouch has a 3 year shelf life instead of 8 months for the mayo alone. We're also looking a...

Re: Petition for Sopacko to create a Civilian FSR?

fdsman,

We tried that route. The reply we got was that they were under contract from the government and were not allowed to sell to the public. We assume it will only be a matter of time before they release it under a different name - like HooAh bars (soldier fuel).

Re: Petition for Sopacko to create a Civilian FSR?

Welcome to the discussion... What was the thought of going with the energy gel instead of an applesauce? Not very filling, is it? Will the outer bag be completely sealed (sort of like a tear open, but still have a ziplock much like the Moutain House freezedried meals) or will it just be a ziplock? ...

Re: Petition for Sopacko to create a Civilian FSR?

BB, Yes, those are some good thoughts and I bet we, here on this thread, could do much better with our version. I followed the hyperlink to that guy's website and I still did not see any date other than June 24 when his FSR was coming out. If such a product exists. If one did come out I think this ...
