Re: 2003 No6 Thai Chicken

I had the same one a couple years ago (just sitting around in my kitchen). I kind of wish I hadn't given mine away now that I see how it looks.

Yummy!

Re: Chili-Mac TOTM

TOTM.... What a sad state of affairs. I would feel like someone owed me something after getting a half of an MRE. I understand why they exist. Its for garrison calorie intake. However, if you are in garrison, might as well get a bag nasty or eat at the chow hall.

Re: A little confused about meatballs MRE

Hahahaha... I am sitting here cannibalizing another MRE while reading this. THANK YOU laughing_man. I see now. The tuna was a big no no from HACCP. I see. I am eating cheese spread and Italian bread sticks from the pesto pasta MRE while I pontificate over the change. I am such a nerd when it comes t...

Re: Taste Test: Parts of 1993 BEEF STEW

I think the stew might still be ok. Maybe...

I once had a 10 year old one, but never a 21 year old stew.

Impressive. I hope you are strong of stomach just in case. (or have TRIcare or something)

MREs are like wine. They get better with age right?... or at least the fruit cake does from old MCIs.

Re: A little confused about meatballs MRE

Hmm... I am beginning to suspect that they have a little liberty when it comes to printing things at Wornick. Since this MRE resembles the Tuna menu the closest, they might have switched numbers with... wait no...I have no idea. Either way, I'll keep this anomalously love child of the Menu #8 and th...

A little confused about meatballs MRE

Hello, I was eating an MRE yesterday and I noticed something funny about it. It seemed strange. I had a menu #21 Meatballs in Marinara Sauce MRE. First of all, there were tortillas in it and the last time there were tortillas was in 2011. Also, that being the case, it would be Menu #8; not menu #21....

Re: The great UGR giveaway

Actually, these photos were taken in the Philippines back when I was stationed in Okinawa. However, it is funny that you should mention Korea because I am stationed there now.

Re: Question about date codes

And another! Uhhh...

This was from a box that was only 2 months old when this was taken. (That is a shocker- I know)

Believe it or not. New MRE foodstuffs that are a mere couple of months old are fresher in flavor. They are totally different.

Military sauce with meatballs

Not too sure if this belongs in this section. Anyways, this was a fun one we had in a freezer. It is civilian with some kind of military designation to it.

I guess the story is some civilian food that just happened to enlist.
