Re: Show and tell of foreign MREs

Not in the time I had available there's too many to cook.
I've only got two hours plus NAAFI break to do it.

What I did do is break up the biscuits. Crackers and chocolates, opened the pate, then shared them out.

The cooking will have to wait until another suitable training opportunity.

Re: Ukranian MRE

Interesting comment. Basic but solid rations is a good building block to a better ration.

It did feel a bit basic, separate sealed packs is a good idea.

Re: Ukranian MRE

More photos. Pashtet and Kasha revealed. It seem more basic compared to Russian rations.

Ukranian MRE

Just acquired an Ukrainian MRE direct from Ukraine, initially opened it up to check out the contents. BBE 1st August 2020.

Will open it up further when I get round to trying it out :D

Show and tell of foreign MREs

Did a show And tell of foreign MREs to my cadets, they found it fascinating to compare it to British ORP packs.
The Russian ration generated a lot of interest. :D

Re: 2001 British training ration - any info?

Here's a link to the history of early British forces rations, The first thing I looked for was the official MOD stencil over the box, which appears to be missing and the mix and match of the contents got my suspicions up. If you do buy historical rations again, this link should help you to indentify...

Re: 2001 British training ration - any info?

It looks like a mix and match of civvie and army rations left overs put together, it doesn't look official to me, I remember Duncan's chocolates, they come with the rations, noodles has no nutritional value whatsover, the plain rations without any graphics on it are genuine army, KFC wipes defintely...

Re: Canadian menu #20 beef and vegetable stew.

Youth Military organisation sponsored and funded by the Ministry of Defence.

Regular and reserve soldiers work with them, many ex servicemen or medically discharged often cross over, the training syllabus is very similar using the same military equipment and training area, good fun ! :D

Re: Canadian menu #20 beef and vegetable stew.

I work in the British Army Cadets on top of my day job, we are issued exactly the same rations that reserve and regular troops get. I've heard that FRH is going to be issued, we usually boil them and use the hot water for making a brew after. Curry is a favourite of troops, we do occasionally get fo...
