Re: Trail Mix, Recovery

I make up what I call Four Buck Mix. From the Dollar Store (hence the name) One bag each of Craisins, Peanuts, Tropical dried Fruit, and Corn Nuts. Mix and store in in small ziplocs. Corn nuts go stale and hard pretty quickly, so either eat this quickly or be prepared to toss some of it if it gets ...

Hmmm might be worth buying one to find out. The write up is confusing, it doesn't seem to match the description.
One case for $45 isn't a bad deal for some civilian rations. If I were you I'd buy it.

Re: 45$ for 2 cases??

Looks like they are selling for $45 per case, which isn't bad at all.

They mention that they reduced the price due to some of the items being stale/melted.

Re: Menu 24 Filled with air?

Ah, sweet, that's a load off my mind. Just caught me off guard when I picked it up. I've got two Dutch meal pouches that seem to be packed with a bit of air in them too. I'll go into the MRE with a bit of caution, use my nose and all that. Thanks very much! No problem. That particular menu has been...

Re: Menu 24 Filled with air?

I wouldn't be too worried. I had the same thing happen recently but the ration was completely fine.

I've experienced rations that were full of air like a balloon, some that had a small amount of air, and some that had the air pulled out of them (as if they were vacuum sealed)

Re: Civie MREs: Looking for Suggestions.

I like to recommend TOTMs. They're another "light" version of MREs but also made for military training. Here are the menus http://www.dla.mil/Portals/104/Documents/TroopSupport/Subsistence/Rations/totm/vendor_totm_menu.pdf They're a little hard to find but a good alternative if you do find some. IMO...

Re: Civie MREs: Looking for Suggestions.

I've had some myself The Big 3 (SoPackCo, TWC, Aeriqual) are going to be pretty much the same as the US MRE. I had a case of the SoPackCo ones and they were basically US MRE "Light" version meaning that they didn't come with all of the normal stuff you'd get (i.e. an extra side, crakcers/bread are a...
