Re: Case of 1982 MREs: RAFCO and Cadillac Products

Very jealous of the nut cake! Those things are the best IMO! It's crazy how one component can be perfect, completely edible, while another one that's literally sitting on top of the excellent item can be utter shite lol! My guess is that some moisture remained after the freeze drying process causin...

Re: 1987 Beef Slices with Barbecue Sauce

That looks pretty good, especially paired up with a molasses type sauce! Would like to see it packed with some rice or potatoes so it's more of a "meal". Haha, wouldn't mind looking upon that mystery meat without the sauce..was it like a Banquet Salisbury Steak with the smoke flavoring and...

Re: Case of 1982 MREs: RAFCO and Cadillac Products

Nice find! I'd say any MRE I - V finds are incredibly rare. That is very odd indeed. Maybe the company who printed the boxes shipped a lot of them to the wrong company, but that's purely speculation. I've never seen nor heard of that happening. I'm glad the beef stew held up. I've had a few beef st...

Case of 1982 MREs: RAFCO and Cadillac Products

I finally cut the bands on a case of RIght Away Foods 1982s and found something peculiar..maybe. First of all, I was lucky to find a menu #12 Beef, ground with spiced sauce! IMG_1214.JPG But what threw me (besides that ultra classic MRE) were the menu #1 Pork patties. They were made by Cadillac Prod...

It made it with flying colors and tasted excellent..not mushy, not too dry and really flakey. The whole meal was amazing.

Re: 1984 Chicken a la King, produced on April 8th, 1984

Great review. The first time I ever had an MRE was in 1984 in a field exercise. I was fascinated and adored it. Even if it was a mess of preservatives and stodge. Your review took me back to a happy and curious time; thanks! Thanks Nix, your words really mean a lot and I really appreciate it. I tot...

Re: 1984 Chicken a la King, produced on April 8th, 1984

Amazing that so many components were in that great of shape! Never had the pleasure to try chicken a la king, but if/when I do I hope it's half as good as yours looked. I may just avoid the cheese outright though. Stay away from the cheese Evergreen! And bury it if at all possible :D Yeah, I...
