1991 Tuna with Noodles MRE Review

Hello! It's been a bit since I've had an MRE and I figured it was about time I dig into my stash of dark brown bag MREs. I ended up grabbing a Tuna with Noodles MRE. When I bought this batch of MREs, I had a 1994 Tuna with Noodles MRE that was actually still good! I'm a bit disappointed in myself fo...

Re: 1993 Menu 1 Pork in rice with BBQ sauce

I'm a bit shocked that the beverage powder looks like it had gone through hell in the last 25 years yet everything else pulled through perfectly fine. I have a lot of these dark brown bag pork with rice MREs but I don't want to open and waste them since I don't like pork anyway (I make every effort ...

This is awesome. Is it for sale? If so, where can one be purchased? I saw a link to custommre.com, but didn't find much there.

Re: Differences between MRE, MCW, LRP, etc

Glad I could help. The menus and the components in them are the exact same. Really, it just comes down to price, availability and appearance. In my experience, obtaining MCWs have been far more easier than finding any LRPs. There are a few MCW cases for sale on eBay but I haven't seen any modern pro...

Re: Differences between MRE, MCW, LRP, etc

Where did you read that the MCWs and LRPs aren't freeze dried? Whoever told you that is wrong. The entrees in them are freeze dried, however the other components are not and there's no reason for them to be. For example. it wouldn't be logistical to have freeze dried nut mix, M&Ms. drink mixes, ...

Re: MRE's in car in freezing weather.

I would spend the extra few bucks and get some Meal, Cold Weather or Long Range Patrol rations instead. The entrees are freeze dried, taste better, are lighter and last longer. Ultimately, you'd save money in the long run because you wouldn't have to swap them out as often. MREs can get a bit weird ...

Re: MRE beginner info

The "5274" denotes the date of production, so it's what Btemple said. 5 could be 2015, 2005, 1995, or 1985 and the 274 is the day of the year it was made. By process of elimination, we know yours is a 2015 because the 2005, 1995 and 1985 MREs didn't include penne w/ veg sausage. http://www...

1997 Civilian MRE: Beef Ravioli

Hi! I was at a nearby surplus store recently and they had a case of MREs, I originally thought they were genuine US MREs from the pre-1996 era, but after further inspection, I found that they were some strange civilian MREs. I didn't think much of them after I found a case of C Rations, but I decide...

Re: 1989 RCW case

Whoever the winner/highest bidder is, I'm confident that they will make sure to review and document those rations. I had a few 1989 RCWs myself and they were pretty good, but in all honesty I wouldn't spend too much time and money trying to get one. The new MCWs are pretty tasty and exciting too, so...
