This sucks, Mike. Seems you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and they've chosen you to make an example of.

I'm sorry to hear about the hassle. Thanks for warning us and I hope this doesn't spoil the hobby for you.

Re: Clear plastic bag inside tan pouches?

I'm glad that the inner bay is easier to rip open that the outer bay.

I have about a 50% success rate peeling the seal open on those with my fingers and I don't carry a knife as a habit.

I used to be stronger, honest.

You guys are great but It's hard to understand you over the background music. Maybe the mic isn't in the right place, or you're speaking too low?

Thanks for the review.

Re: Clear plastic bag inside tan pouches?

This started as a result of the bag distribution bottleneck several years ago. When Ameriqual couldn’t get the outer bags, they opted to still pack them in the inner bags until they got their orders of outer bags delivered. This allowed them to keep up production schedules. Re: U.S. Jimmy Dean

I remember these from the late 90s, too. Had a little biography of Jimmy on the back of the packaging. I only remember them as being too salty, too processed, and too cold. I was in a National Guard unit by then, and they kept the meals in the freezer at the armory for issue during admin drill weeke...

Re: Newcomer

Biggest indicator that a case has been opened is that the two original plastic sealing straps are missing. The box flaps are also glued shut at the factory, but those may have been reglued shut. If the box has been taped shut, it's definitely been tampered with..

Re: Newcomer

Make sure when you buy by the case that it's factory sealed.

Have seen many unscrupulous sellers on eBay and at gun shows with cases put together from loose rations they've collected, and you have no idea how they were stored or their vintage, especially if they've resealed the box.

Re: MCW’s, what’s your favorite menu??

Spaghetti has been my favorite in MCIs, MREs, RCWs, and MCWs.

I think it's the only entrée that's always been in the line-up(?)

Re: interesting life boat ration

Nice find.

Sure looks like it could have been 19th century, anyway.

Re: interesting life boat ration

I'm looking at your photos on my big monitor, and I can see the pack date now. It's partially obscured, but is it "9/56"?
