Re: What is the proper temperature too store rations?

For those Russian rations, I don't know about a "lot" longer...I haven't seen any studies (i.e. crazy people like us eating old rations) of old Russian rations, but I'd think you'd get a little more life out of them than storing them in hotter conditions.

Re: What is the proper temperature too store rations?

I think 60-65F is a great temperature at which to store them - they should last for many years that way. However, if you want them to last as long as possible, get them as cold as possible. I wouldn't recommend freezing them (besides the space it would take, one freeze/thaw might be ok on the food, ...

Re: FEMA food packs for recent hurricanes

I think one of the problems that happened this year was that most of the decent MRE-type meals were bought up by suppliers trying to get food to the Houston area for the first hurricane. So by the time Florida and then Puerto Rico were hit, those supplies had dried up and they were grabbing whatever...

Re: American food week at Lidl

You had me at Bacon, Maple Syrup, and Chicken Nuggets!

They actually just opened a few Lidl's here in my part of the US (North Carolina). I'll have to check out their selection of American food!

Re: Hurricane Irma

DirtyDave is down in your area, too, Steve. He says he's hiding under his bed with a .45 waiting for Irma. :-) Good luck...we'll be watching.

Hurricane Harvey - stay safe out there!

For any forums members in the path of Hurricane Harvey - stay safe and all buttoned-up. Good thing you've been saving up all those MREs, right?

I have a buddy in Houston...he says he has bourbon, food, water, and plenty of ammo - he's all set.
