Re: Favorite LRP/RCW main?

I ate my last LRRP (as it was called back then) in early 1971. So it's hardly relevant to comment today. The one most prominent memory, though, is of a chili meal that I didn't let hydrate long enough. It deserved the description of "mud and rocks" because the beans were still hard. Can't imagine ea...

Re: Morale: All Hail The Pizza MRE

Misleading title, change of of topic in mid-article, and significant errors of fact.

Yup, that's today's "journalism."

How she managed to miss throwing in a climate change claim and an anti-conservative remark is a shock.

Re: Morale: All Hail The Pizza MRE

Interesting article, but the writer believes that MREs are freeze-dried. And the bulk of the article is about Chinese rations.

Re: Favorite MRE menu

That Chicken Tomato Feta was probably the most divisive one ever. At least half hated it. About the only one I rated awful was the Chicken Fajita, because the "extruded from paste" chicken chunks were more like erasers than meat. I like all the rest that I've had. Most of us love the chili options a...

Re: New South African MRE Review 10H SERAC MRE Menu 3 Combined

Had the chicken ala king last night. Didn't take any photos. It was quite tasty, with a lot (35% according to the ingredients list) of chicken chunks. The chicken appeared to be pinkish dark meat and was toothsome and flavorful. A good portion of vegetables (also listed as 35%) with visible carrot a...

Re: MRE 2019 Menus

You're right: two breakfast menus. I have a regular doctor and a VA doctor. My regular guy tells me I am very slightly high in potassium, and shrugs. The VA doc thinks being one tenth of a something-or-other over the normal range is significant. I'm going with my regular Doc's assessment - I'm sympt...

Re: MRE 2019 Menus

Nah. Everybody has some little health quirk. I have high potassium levels. The "bad" foods I'm supposed to avoid include bananas, avocados, oranges, beans, nuts, whole wheat bread, bran, lunchmeat, potatoes, dairy products, tomato, vegetable juices, melons, peas, all fast foods - and spinach. A lot ...

Re: MRE 2019 Menus

Thanks for that. Have already printed off pages 8-13 for future shopping reference. It's dismaying that there is only one "breakfast" meal in the whole list. If they can do bread, they could come up with a waffle or pancake and a side of bacon strips or sausage. Granola, a poptart, and a packet of T...

Thanks! I just got that same chicken main and was quite curious to see your review.
