Re: 2017 Menu No. 3 Chicken, Noodles and Vegetables, in Sauce --al fresco

The coffee, instant, type II was great. Maybe my favorite part. There is something great about sitting on the side of a hill, watching Northern Harriers soar overhead while hunting, and sipping hot coffee that makes the world seem just right. Excellent review.I like reviews with pics of the scenery...

Re: Has anyone tried cooking a tin in an FRH?

I'm thinking of the more powerful frhs like the British one... You know how many canned meals could be cooked by immersing them in water, has anyone tried with rcir tins or similar? Cos I know it works with German rations. I know I can always nuke them, but I have a pannus that means I have to lean...

Re: Which us mre menus do you reccomend?

I have the opportunity of buying a full case of either menus 1-12 or 13-24 dated 2014.just wondering which ones you fine folks recommend? Thanks for any suggestions! Leo. I would pick the B case, menu 13-24, but it's just me. If you like beef take the menus 1-12 (there are 8 beef, two chicken and 2 ...

Re: Vegetarian MRE review - menu 12 - penne with vegetable sausage crumbles

That's a good one, but my all-time favorite veggie MRE is the Ratatouille. Possibly because there are fewer preservatives in them, the veggie meals seem to be tastier to me. Maybe they try a little harder to make it flavorful to make up for the lack of meat. All I know is the veggie ones are pretty...

Re: Beef Taco #6

Many MRE menus make little sense. I have always thought that when NATICK sets the meal contents they look only at the calorie count and pay no attention whatever to what people would choose to eat as a meal. Sausage and gravy with crackers? (Menu 20) C'mon. Exactly.Military rations should be nutrit...

Re: 2014 MRE MENU # 17 Pork Suasage Patty Maple Flavored

Whoa! I had no idea there was such a big difference between Sopakco and the other two! I should try to get some to compare. At the moment I have Maple Sausage MREs from Sopakco,Ameriqual and from Wornick too. Sopakco is from a 2014 case but the date code is 3340, Ameriqual's code is 4217 (or so,I'm...

Re: 2014 MRE MENU # 17 Pork Suasage Patty Maple Flavored

Excellent review and pics. When I first had this MRE I too had doubts because of the weight. Now it is one of my favorite MREs along with the Pork Rib.I liked the earlier version with Granola w. Milk and Fruit. From 2012 the granola has been replaced with nut&raisin mix.Nut raisin mix for breakfas...

Re: Rancid (?) 2011 vegetable crackers

I had been eating dozens of MREs before I found the first bad item a few years ago.It was a Maple Muffin Top.I wrote about it earlier. The same year (not sure) I had problems with tortillas. They were almost 3 years old. I had a Chicken Fajita for lunch one day and when I opened the tortillas the ace...

Re: Ameriqual

Sounds like a challenge! Ameriqual is definitely my least favorite of the big three - with Wornick on top. The A-Pack civilian meals lack variety, the exact same desert and snack are included in every single meal so it gets a little old. The same entire MRE as produced by each of the three from the...
