Re: MRE Meet Up 2019 August 17th!

Hello everyone. I’ve been on radio silence for a while about committing to the meet-up. Sorry about that. It’s something that I REALLY, REALLY want to do, but there have simply been too many complications to make it easy to pull the trigger. I may or may not have a family commitment that weekend, so...

Re: By Request, "One Fewer"

Thank you, Rocky. That was a great story and great tribute to our true heroes. I remember around the time that "Saving Private Ryan" came out--and a lot of attention was being paid to WWII soldier--hearing a statistic that 1,000 WWII vets were dying each day. It was a staggering thought. And now it'...

Re: MRE Meet Up 2019 August 17th!

Thanks for the additional info. I'd REALLY love to be able to make this one. We have a very busy summer, but at this point the 17th appears to be open. Money is crazy tight right now (what else is new, right?). Crossing fingers.

Re: MRE Meet Up 2019 August 17th!

Ah, not too far, but probably a little too far to Uber it. Well, going in a Caddy would certainly be the stylish way to go! It's s funny that you were able to secure that ride for LESS than the price of a sub-compact. If I CAN go and happen to be getting in at the right time I'd love to tag along wi...

Re: Clear plastic bag inside tan pouches?

This started as a result of the bag distribution bottleneck several years ago. When Ameriqual couldn’t get the outer bags, they opted to still pack them in the inner bags until they got their orders of outer bags delivered. This allowed them to keep up production schedules. It is indeed great to ha...

Re: MRE Meet Up 2019 August 17th!

Just seeing this now! This looks like it's going to be an awesome event! Thank you for hosting, Bob! I'm going to have to check the summer schedule and see if I can manage to make it work this time. Thought I was going to be able to do Doswell, and STILL regret not being able to make that one happen...

Re: 1992 Brown bag MRE’s for sale or trade.

Generally you're taking a chance with MREs this old, but in this case I can attest that these should be in GREAT shape! If they're from the same source as the one fatboytactical sent me and they were stored under the same conditions for all these years everything in them should be edible, as was the...

Re: 1977 Combat Meals Interest

Welcome to the forums (as a posting member) fun2drive! I would also be interested in of these MCIs if it's at all possible. I love the old surplus store price tags on them! Imagine being able to buy MCIs for $2.39?!? Let me see if I can clear up any confusion about the terminology. These are indeed ...

Re: The new 24hr Blackdog surplus 24hr mre! 2 slices of pizza!

That would be really cool! We'd probably end up with a two hour video by the time it was all said and done though! Seriously though, The Wife has been supportive of the insanity, and has even been in a few videos herself. Actually, I should probably share the "Valentine's Day Dinner" I made for her ...
