Re: Food Packet Cold Weather

I received a response to my inquiry from Ameriqual. I did not receive a definitive answer as to why a name change occurred from “Food Packet: Cold Weather” to “Meals Cold Weather” in 2004. More investigation is necessary, but what I did ascertain was, as far as their meals are concerned, is that th...

Re: Food Packet Cold Weather

All of the FPCW seem to be dated 2004, and the MCW information showed up in the Spring 1998 Quartermaster’s supply publication, so I’m forming the opinion that it is not intermediate. The proof will be on government procurement documents but I haven’t been able to find it. If your looking for the p...

Re: Food Packet Cold Weather

In my opinion, this was a intermediary ration - IIRC it's menu is actually the same or very similar to the MCW - so all in all the difference might only be the package labeling... I believe this ration was intended to be one step towards a unified MCW/LRP ration as referenced below to reduce procure...

Re: Can we talk about the PR1M?

So besides, one ration being freeze dried, etc. - one of the main differences is who the rations are issued to; CR1M - Regular Army, etc. PR1M - Special Operations Forces By nature, usually there are going to be less SOF personnel, than there are regular forces. This could indeed be the reason why t...

Re: Vintage mre,rcw,lrrp items tread

Yeah, I was pretty shocked. The surplus store had a few boxes stacked on top of each other and I'd never bothered to sort through them out of fear of making a big mess. This time I was feeling adventurous and decided I was going to dig through it and once I saw all of these white packaged items, I ...

Re: Going rate for G.I. sleep systems

Panic prices! You could get a new system for $90-$120 range on eBay before. I have seen the Kelty Varicom sleep systems go for about $300 complete in the past, very very lightly used or even new. These are much nicer and issued to certain SOCOM units. https://www.amronintl.com/kelty-varicom-afsoc-sy...

Re: Duncans Review

The Duncans one wasn't the best even when new. The best one was the one that came later, the Yorkie bar (ca. early-mid 2000's)!

Re: The infamous 2005 Cheese and Veggie Omelet aka (The Vomelator)

I always post about this MRE, lol. So here goes again, yes it sucks really bad! We would always avoid this thing in the boxes. Nothing at all like the old 90's omelet with ham.

Re: the new Nederlandse Korps Mariniers arctic ration.

Eistee,

Yours look like the regular operational rations with the wet pack meals vs. the freeze dried meals in Arctic ones from Norge.
