WARNING! Nut raisin mix

My father was rushed to the hospital yesterday after eating nut rain mix, production 2009.
I got them from Treesuit, and always ate them without any problems.

It is known in our family that we have histamine intolerance. It's a chemical that is natural in many food items, like cheeses, nuts, vegetables, red wine, chocolate etc. I am histamine intolerant myself, causing very bad headaches once in a while, but I never had any problems with the trailmix "nut raisin mix"

My father had a sever reaction on it (possibly combined with a allergy), but is doing fine at the moment.
His face, lips and eyes got swollen, he had serious problems with breathing, and went insane from itching because of a all over rash. And offcourse his heart went to 9999 bpm, and he became 5 years older. The doctors gave histamine brakes and kept monitoring him. He is doing fine now, but I would like to warn you guys.

The nuts raisin mix contains the additives BHA and BHT, which, especially with fat (and peanuts are greasy..) make histamine. So if you know that you are histamine intolerant, do NOT attempt to eat the nut raisin mix.
Even when you did it without problems in the past (like my father and I, he only ate small portions though, now he ate a whole load of them).

I would also like to point out that BHA and BHT does not pose a threat for "normal" persons, nor does histamine itself.
Also, this has nothing to do with Treesuit and/or his products, he was only the supplier. Storing the items in certain ways doesn't influence the amount of histamine.

Just an eyes opener for the other members.

Beef brisket review with pictures.

My son and I tried the beef brisket today. It was delicious, but it should be labeled roast beef in gravy, not beef brisket. The meat was real slices of meat, not chopped and formed. The gravy is very good. I guess my only problem with this entree is when you hear beef brisket, you think BBQ. Or at least I do. We are in the process of relocating to a new area. The company I work for is opening a new store in Kentucky and I will be moving soon. I will post more reviews when I can. I have a basement full of new cases ready to tried.
2010-09-01-20.59.08.jpg
[/attachment]
2010-09-01-21.03.42.jpg

FOOD PACKET, IN-FLIGHT INDIVIDUAL MENU NO. 1, DoP 1979

Hi guys,

today I want to show you a FOOD PACKET, IN-FLIGHT INDIVIDUAL MENU NO. 1. I guess it is a very late one (on the lid of the Chocolate Nut Roll can the code 20119 is stamped, so I guess that means 20. November 1979), shortly before replaced by the MRE.

Here are some photos:

The card board packed by CON PAC, INC., same packer as late MCI menus

All cans at one glance: Due to the dimensions of the bulging APRICOTS can it is not possible that that can belongs to the original contents of that menu, someone has replaced it. All in all the condition is ok, from the BEEF WITH SPICED SAUCE can the finish is loose partially

BEEF WITH SPICED SAUCE and CHOCOLATE NUT ROLL

APPLE JUICE and APRICOTS

Accessory Packet in excellent condition

Spoon, card board divider and moist towel

Close-up Apple Juice can

The Apple Juice can opened with abrasive paper, still looks and smells like Apple Juice even if 30 years old

The opened Apricots can, looks not very appetizing

MREs vs. Dehydrated vs Food Bars: Who has the best?

Some websites outright advise against MREs http://survivalacres.com/information/mres.html while many here in the forums recommend a combination of the 3 above for at the very least some kind of variety in their food storage program.
As a companion post to the "Big Three in MREs" thread; I'm curious as to what companies out there (correctly) offer the "Big Three" in both deydrated and 1200-3600 calorie food bar products...again, regardless of price and even more importantly in order of overall quality/taste.

Example:

MREs:
Sopacko; Wornick; Ameriqual; (MRE Star?)

Deydrated:
Mountain House; Rainy Day(Walton?); Alpine Aire; Richmoor; Honeyville

Food Bars:
Mainstay; Datrex; ER bar

Who has the hands down best product in each category...or have I missed a legitimate quality contender? (Current 2010 offerings only please)

Thanks for your help.
